We offer a unique role as one of the most highly trained and skilled positions in Canada’s Security Intelligence Service. We are looking for individuals who possess a high level of initiative, motivation and discretion combined with the ability to work well in a team.
Our Surveillance Officers love to drive (but not like James Bond). They have the ability to fit in and adapt quickly to a variety of settings and situations and can manage, at times, a high level of stress.
What you would do:
- Conduct discreet physical surveillance (in a vehicle and on foot);
- Research and analyze information pertaining to surveillance;
- Draft reports and detail information gathered;
- Carry out several tasks simultaneously.

What we need from you:

Education
- University degree or College diploma and (2) two years of experience * or
- High school diploma and (4) four years of experience *
The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.
Experience
- Experience working in a team environment plus a minimum of six (6) years of safely driving motor vehicles in various driving conditions (city, rural, weather events)
- A valid and permanent Canadian driver’s license. Full license is defined as G class (Ontario) or minimum of a Class 5 (remainder of Canada). G1, G2, Class 5-GDL, Class 6, Class 7, and Learner’s Permit will not be accepted.
Please note that the validity of you driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment in this position. A copy of your driver’s abstract for the last three (3) years will be required.

Conditions of Employment
- This position requires shift work, including some weekends and paid overtime.
- In addition, some travel within the region is required based on operational needs.
- To obtain permanent full-time (indeterminate) status, Surveillance Officers must successfully complete a three (3) month Ottawa-based Surveillance Officer Training Course (SOTC). All temporary relocation expenses are covered.
- Surveillance Officers are subject to a two (2) year probationary period.

In this situation, the employee must meet the language requirements of the position within two years of the appointment date.
