Federated Co-operatives Limited is hiring a Sustainability Student on a temporary (up to 9 months) basis at our home office based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Strategy team currently have flexible work agreements in place and are open to exploring remote work arrangements with candidates.

What you’ll do:

The student in this role will work as part of a team of four reporting into the Sustainability Manager. You will support initiatives related to waste reduction, energy efficiency, and more across the Co-operative Retailing System. You will gain exposure to sustainability challenges affecting numerous commodities and sectors of the economy.

  • You will assist in project coordination, which may include communication with stakeholders, drafting reports, and distributing project material.
  • You will develop supporting research, perform data analysis, and provide summaries for strategic projects.
  • You will track data for the corporate scorecard as it relates to our waste and carbon footprints.
  • You will act as a liaison and coordinator of the Environmental Sustainability Team, which supports employee-driven sustainability initiatives, event planning, and meeting coordination.

Who you are:

  • You are enrolled with the University of Saskatchewan’s School of Environment and Sustainability Program and are working towards your bachelor’s degree.
  • You have a good understanding of sustainability principles and have data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
