Tri-global Solutions Group Inc. is seeking one (1) Intermediate Server Analyst (Network Print Services) to join our talented Service Delivery team at Ministry of Technology and Innovation (Government of Alberta) to provide print server support across the environment.

The successful contractor(s) have an anticipated June 1, 2023 start date for an initial 10-month contract (ending March 31, 2024) with 6-month extension available (total contract term up to 16-months).

NOTES ON LOCATION: The successful candidate will work remotely within the Province of Alberta. Work must be done from within Alberta, due to network and data security policies. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Team Lead, Network Print Services, the Intermediate Print Server Support Analyst will provide support to Ministry of Technology and Innovation’s client base.

This role assists in maintaining the existing GoA network print infrastructure working within existing procedures and guidelines to meet client business requirements. Excellent customer focus and client service skills, a proven ability to function in both individual and team environments, and exceptional technical troubleshooting and problem resolution skills are essential.

The prospective candidate requires a strong working knowledge of network print services technologies and technical support skills covering a broad range of related hardware and software. Experience working in a formal IT project environment, ability to learn and support custom or specialized software, and intermediate level experience with proactive performance monitoring are required.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Deliverables may include some or all of the following, in accordance with service level agreements:

  • Participate in all aspects of maintaining the Government of Alberta Windows and mainframe/Unix Enterprise print environment;
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve print server and network printing performance and reliability issues;
  • Participate in the Government of Alberta print environment action request, problem and incident management workflow;
  • Code, test and document print related script modifications;
  • Perform new hardware and software certifications;
  • Plan for software and hardware upgrades;
  • Plan for capacity and disaster recovery;
  • Develop and maintain server and client documentation;
  • Maintain consistently courteous interactive customer service response;
  • Manage project resources to ensure proper information and workflow is maintained.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Responsible for proactively maintain and improve the server core infrastructure functionality and to work within existing procedures and guidelines to meet client business requirements.

  • perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
  • perform hardware and OS installations, migrations and/or upgrades.
  • plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
  • develop and maintain documentation.
  • maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software.
  • develop system related procedures.
  • provide cross training and knowledge transfer to other server team members on relevant aspects of hardware and software support.

MANDATORY SKILLS

- Proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: (5+ years)

  • University graduation in Computer Science or a related discipline and 2-yr Printer Analyst experience;

OR

  • 2-yr diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline and 4-yr Printer Analyst experience;

OR

  • 1-yr certificate in Computer Science or a related discipline and 5-yr Printer Analyst experience;

OR

  • a currently active professional certification/accreditation in a related discipline 5-yr Printer Analyst experience

- Experience deploying, maintaining and supporting Windows print server environment (4+ years)

- Experience with various enterprise printer hardware, software, and security options such as multi-function device scanning, authentication, and secure access features (4+ years)

- Experience with supporting mainframe printing in a Windows Environment (3+ years)

- Experience deploying, maintaining and supporting Windows Print server environment and various enterprise printer hardware, software, and security options (3+ years)

- Experience with printer deployment automation, command line utilities, and scripting technologies (3+ years)

Experience with Windows 2019 print server technologies (3+ years)

- Experience with Windows server and print environment performance monitoring and troubleshooting (3+ years)

- Experience deploying, maintaining and supporting an enterprise Windows Print server environment, greater than 4 concurrent print servers and 500 printers (2+ years)

- Proposed resource must work from within Alberta, due to network and data security policies. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time.

DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

- Experience with printer migration projects (2+ years)

- Experience supporting Windows 2019 as a system administrator (2+ years)

- Experience with scripting tools, such as PowerShelll (2+ years)

- Experience with managing and configuring DHCP and WINS (2+ years)

- Experience with managing and configuring Windows Active directory based DNS (2+ years)

- Experience with desktop printing features, preferences, functionality and troubleshooting (2+ years)

- Experience with remote access software (Terminal Services, VPN, Citrix) (2+ years)

- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and/or during block -time/change windows outside of Government of Alberta business hours (8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alberta time, Monday to Friday)

- Experience working in the Government of Alberta Domain environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity (2+ years)

- Experience with action request, problem and incident management workflow (2+ years)

- Experience working in or for the public sector (2+ years)
