Talent Projects Coordinator Co-op

  • Duration: September 2023 until December 2023 or April 2024 (4 months with opportunity to be extended for an additional 4-month term upon mutual agreement)
  • Location: Victoria (our office is situated on the Selkirk Waterfront on the Gorge Inlet. Enjoy stunning views of downtown Victoria and the Olympic mountains and take advantage of the nearby Galloping Goose Regional Trail for walking and biking).
  • Salary: $1,819.12 bi-weekly (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor's degree) or $2,136.88 (for students working towards a post-graduate degree)
  • Grant: As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.

The Job Responsibilities

As part of the Performance and Talent Development team, this co-op role will support various aspects of project coordination for the Corporations' annual Staff Day, along with other organizational engagement events and projects impacting all Corporation employees.

This is a unique opportunity to learn more about performance and talent projects, and to gain experience planning and coordinating events for a large organization.

Learning Outcomes

The successful candidate can expect to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Planning and coordinating events for a large organization;
  • Using project management and business application tools (i.e M365);
  • Developing and reviewing various documentation and communication materials intended for a wide audience;
  • Developing presentations;
  • Conducting research in support of the development of culture and employee engagement projects and events; and
  • Project planning, timelines, deliverables, budget approvals, cost tracking, facilities arrangements, liaising with other project participants, and preparing briefing notes.

Requirements

This opportunity is available to 3rd or 4th year students working towards a diploma or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business administration or event management, or related fields.

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas would be an asset:

  • Experience in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interest in project management methodologies and best practices
  • Interest in project management office administration
  • Aptitude for gathering requirements
  • Being curious and asking questions
