The incumbent is responsible for technical support to operations and is essential to the smooth running of these operations. The Technical Specialist contributes to the standardization of manufacturing methods and their optimization through various continuous improvement techniques. The specialist actively participates in problem-solving and takes initiatives to establish an optimal and quality production flow. The incumbent also contributes significantly to the training process of assemblers and operators.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure that techniques and work documents reflect the latest revisions.
  • Provide technical support to production departments.
  • Support returns (test faults or customer returns) to determine the optimal repair sequence.
  • Manage the Quality Notice system - implementation, record keeping.
  • Define the manufacturing strategy (processes used, sequencing, etc).
  • Write manufacturing routines, including control points.
  • Improve tooling and collaborate with the industrial engineering team for production start up.
  • Participate in production equipment purchasing and implementation projects.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews to validate feasibility from a manufacturing perspective.

Your background

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering background/training
  • Experience in the high-power transformer industry is a strong asset
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • Working knowledge of workflow analysis (process mapping) and process risk analysis (FMEA - Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities with a team and achieve objectives to meet production deadlines and quality requirements
  • Ability to make decisions and be autonomous
  • Communication and presentation skills with all levels of employees
  • Problem-solving skills and pragmatic approach
  • Working knowledge of MS office, knowledge of POKA and ETQ is an asset
  • Other considerations
  • Possibility of evening shift– 16 h to 0h30
  • On-site work (100%) required to support operations
  • Working in a unionized environment
