Temp FT (1.0) Intermediate Teacher (2023-24) Job at School District #60 (Peace River North)
Position Description
A temporary full time (1.0) Intermediate Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. The assignment will be at Robert Ogilvie Elementary School.
Robert Ogilvie School is a vibrant, caring school community on the eastern edge of the City of Fort St John. The school has a population of 209 students of which 28 percent are of indigenous ancestry. We are funded as an inner city school through Community LINK funding from the Ministry of Education, which allows us to provide additional support for students. Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
Certification and experience at the intermediate level
Experience teaching in a multi-aged classroom
Computer related skills and the ability to incorporate technology into regular classroom instruction (Curriculum with Technology)
Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
Strong classroom management skills which maintain student dignity
Cognizant of the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum
Strong communication skills with students, parents and staff
Training in teaching ELL students
Ability to work
as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning
plans for students with academic, social, emotional and learning
difficulties
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction and planning
Working knowledge of Criterion Based
Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment, Balanced
Literacy, and blended/structured writing process
Experience working with children will special needs
Experience/training/knowledge of Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
$2,761 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $59,478- $101,425
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
