Primary Role
To provide the appropriate level of tutoring/mentorship support in assisting the student in meeting their overall personal and scholastic goals.
Position Requirements
To be successful in the tutorial position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:
Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation, group facilitation and individual explanation skills.
Ability to act as a mentor/coach in assisting students in their academic development.
Thorough knowledge of the internet and comfort with using advancing technologies.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
Excellent research skills and an ability to evaluate academic resource material (print and online)
Thorough knowledge of grade level learning outcomes in tutorial specific areas
Excellent judgment and problem solving skills with an ability to make appropriate decisions in all situations
Ability to engage and interact with learners al all age levels.
Education and Experience
University degree in relevant subject area and or professional certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other requirements
Ability to tutor in-group settings of up to four students.
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 15 per week
Salary: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- On call
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Coquitlam, BC
