We are currently seeking a Vacuum Truck Operator to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position with our Atlantic Operations based at our Touquoy mine. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the Vacuum Truck Operator is responsible for performing heavy manual labour duties to assist in the preparation of crushing, milling, and tailings activities. The Vacuum Truck Operator’s duties will encompass responsibility for safely performing the basic tasks required to maintain targeted ore feed to the mill, targeted runtime on the crushing circuit, clean and maintain the mill yard and conveyors, manual labour duties, minor maintenance on equipment, and other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity:

  • When not using equipment the Hydrovac Truck will clean up with the use of mobile equipment, shovels, wheel barrels, water hoses, pickaxes, jack hammers, rakes, and etcetera. This could be for periods for 12 hours if deemed necessary by the shift supervisor.
  • Full understanding of the operation of Hydrovac Truck equipment, and basic maintenance.
  • Operate Hydrovac Truck as required for the purposes of maintaining integrity and logistics, perform other duties such as clean-up, mobilization and general maintenance of the equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and as the need arises perform minor repairs to equipment.
  • Effectively operate any given mill process circuit to achieve defined operating parameters.
  • Properly document all Company, Federal, Provincial and Customer paperwork as required by law and/or established policy in a clear and legible manner.
  • Work individually and as a team.
  • Completing daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure safe operations and operational performance.
  • Performing routine clean-up, housekeeping, and maintenance of facilities, equipment.
  • Must be willing to work any shift, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Dependability in attendance required.
  • Mechanically inclined, and willingness to undertake minor equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Hydrovac Truck clean-up.
  • Equipment clean-up.
  • Hose installation and maintenance.
  • Being aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Performing other duties to assist as assigned.

  • Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Well versed in industrial or mill site protocols, rules and code of conduct is an asset.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action.

  • Ability to operate Hydrovac Truck and other mobile equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly.
  • Possess basic written and oral communication skills.
