We are currently seeking Linehaul Dispatch Trainee to join our team at our Winnipeg Terminal.

Reporting to the Manager of Linehaul Dispatch through Supervisor this dispatch trainee position is an excellent opportunity for those looking to move their career into the transportation industry.

Summary
The Linehaul Dispatch Trainee is responsible for dispatching equipment effectively using all resources to meet the customer needs.

What your duties and responsibilities will include

  • Plan manpower and equipment needs for Linehaul operations
  • Discuss previous shift activities with dispatcher
  • Answer phone inquiries and resolve any operational issues
  • Track incident reporting and analyze statistics
  • Communicates with dock personal to get outbound loads
  • Connects with terminals on pertinent information
  • Communicate and confirm bookings with drivers
  • Confirms manifest sheets with B.OL. and distributes to Linehaul Drivers
  • Coordinate any maintenance requirements
  • Assist in coordination of any accident clean-up
  • Reports irregular activities
  • Participates in safety initiatives
  • Engages in other tasks in support of organizational goals

Qualifications
One to two years related experience in a similar position considered an asset. Strong communication skills and able to work in a fast paced computerized office environment. Excellent organizational skills and time management proficiency to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills to work independently and as a team player and provide professional customer service. Experience with Linehaul activities and/or general freight handling considered an asset. Knowledgeable with Linehaul dispatch operations preferred. Excellent computer and telephone skills.

Physical Requirements
Some of the physical demands may include, but not be limited to: prolonged sitting and using a computer and telephone for entire shift, etc.
