Overview:
Provide support to the Richmond Production Team to fully meet their production and shipment targets. Seamless flow of raw materials, and final products through the facility are key mandates of this position. Maintaining a safe, clean environment which all employees take pride in will provide the satisfaction of a job well done.

This is a 90 day temp opportunity.
Responsibilities:
  • Clean up spills leaks etc.
  • Identify and actualize remediation plans to attack chronic housekeeping concerns.
  • Help unload all raw materials in a cost effective, environmentally diligent manner.
  • Load barges, trucks, railcars to meet market demands.
  • Operate small equipment to service production and maintenance customers.
  • Communicate effectively with external customers. Promote Lafarge as an Industry leader and supplier of choice.
  • Apply all quality and safety guidelines in daily duties.
  • Report any nonconformities in a timely manner.
  • Work with the production team to resolve operational issues.
  • Initiate adjustments and minor repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • View change as an essential element of our business.
Qualifications:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Experience:
  • High school level education
  • Computer literate
  • First aid Certificate preferred
  • Basic mechanical and/basic electrical skills preferred

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to computer rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Ability:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and touch or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, colour vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, and high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
