Our Fort McMurrayShop is looking for 1-3 HD Mechanic Journey People/Apprentices to join us!

At GFL, we pride ourselves on our leading-edge fleet and equipment line that is meticulously cared for and regularly maintained by our Fleet Maintenance team. We are currently accepting applications for a HD Mechanic/Apprentice who will maintain our fleet to operate at the highest level. This position is ideal for an experienced Mechanic or an up-and-coming Apprentice looking for a long-term career opportunity.
Please note, the chosen individual must possess their own hand tools and storage toolbox. Successful applicants will be eligible for an annual tool allowance, boot allowance, educational support and reimbursement, (Full benefits, RRSP). GFL has competitive wages and room for advancement to expand your knowledge within the team. The tool allowance in place with most LW shops is $500 per year (at anniversary date) for the first 3 years, $1000 each year after that.

We are looking for a dependable, enthusiastic organized individual capable of consistently performing to meet established standards and deadlines. This is a great opportunity to be on the ground floor, contributing ideas and working with the best of the best in the field.
Key Accountabilities
Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment
Complete repairs on all mechanical systems as required. Including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, driveline, brake systems, hydraulic systems, etc.
Participate in the GFL safety program and ensure compliance with all GFL and Fleet Maintenance safety standards, policies and procedures
Ensure repaired equipment is properly tested for correct performance and operation
Utilize excellent organizational skills in order to complete accurate, legible and descriptive documentation for all completed repairs
Install or fabricate aftermarket equipment and components as assigned
Communicate effectively with Operational Management
Requirements
Apprentice or Journeyman Certificate
Experience with the CVIP Motor Vehicle Inspection Program
Insite / JPRO experience preferred but not an asset, onsite training if needed These are the current diagnostic programs in place, however we will not have a computer for 588 right off the bat
Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver’s License preferred
Strong Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment
