West Bay IB World School
Part-time (0.56 FTE) term position
September 5, 2023 – June 30, 2024
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant must demonstrate the following:
have previous experience as a French specialist teacher, preferably in an IB School;
have a proven ability to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
be willing to work with our IB Coordinator and classroom teachers to find authentic ways to integrate French into the IB Units of Inquiry;
be familiar with the Ministry’s redesigned BC Curriculum, including the core competencies and the “Know, Understand, Do” elements of the curriculum;
have a demonstrated ability to plan, teach, and assess a Kindergarten to Grade 6 second language French program;
possess competent teaching methods to inspire learning with both primary and intermediate-aged students;
be able to integrate technology authentically into the curriculum to enhance the teaching and learning of French;
be willing to provide regular communication to parents outlining aspects of the French program under study;
demonstrate an ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies (e.g., English Language Learners and students with a variety of needs);
have a solid understanding and proven experience implementing self-regulation strategies to support all learners;
model passion for second language instruction.
