ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR (12 MONTH CONTRACT)
Qualifications:
To be considered, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in a Finance/Accounting Program
  • Enrollment in the CPA program or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience in a similar position
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office products, in particular Excel
  • Experience with any of Microsoft Dynamics GP, Diamond Software, Legend Registration Software, CloudPermit, HotSpot parking software and/or Transit Fare considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise with various city departments and suppliers.

Duties:
Reporting to the Deputy Treasurer:
1. Accounts Payable:

  • Responsible for the payables process including year-end cut-off
  • Quality control related to weekly payables batches, transmission of bank files and maintenance of cheque fraud protection information
  • Maintains vendor banking information
  • Reconciliation of preauthorized payables batches

2. Payroll

  • Knowledge of OMERS, , CRA source deductions, EHT and WSIB including reporting requirements
  • Provides assistance to payroll clerk related to multiple collective agreements

3. Accounts Receivable:

  • Responsible for the receivables process including year-end cut-off
  • Approval of invoice requests, finance charges, receivables batches and adjustments and collections.
  • Maintains control sheets on recurring items.

4. Financial Support and Reporting

  • Responsible for quarterly HST rebate and return filings
  • .
  • Responsible for Revenue fund bank reconciliation
  • Organizes and maintains the Visa card program
  • Oversees City Hall inventory maintenance
  • Develops tracking system for various financing agreements
  • Assistance with year-end reporting and preparation of working papers
  • Prepares Library monthly statements and annual financial statements and government reports

5. Other

  • Analyzes processes to identify and recommend areas of improvement
  • Undertakes financial analysis for various activities
  • Provides guidance on Legend software, Transit fare system and various online payment options
  • Acts as backup to the Deputy Treasurer
  • Attends Council meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation $78,882 - $92,802 per year
