The Opportunity
Accounts Payable/Accounting Clerk. We are looking for a self-starter, detail-oriented person to join our accounting team. This person will report to the Assistant Controller and support in the general accounting functions. This position has opportunity to advance in an accounting capacity. The ideal candidate must have knowledge and experience in a construction environment supported by a fast-paced accounting department. The position is not remote and is Monday - Friday, 8 hours with a flexible start - March 2023.
Accounts Payable
- Perform Full cycle AP, including PO matching
- Review visa entry for accuracy of amounts to visa statements, tax, and project coding
- Review the purchase orders on a weekly basis and reconcile that outstanding POs are accounted for
- Prepare cheque generation, ACH, wire transfers and credit card administration for timely payment of vendors and reimbursements to employees
- Reconcile vendor statements to AP monthly
- Track and administer employee expense reimbursements
- Track materials for USE tax application for various States
- Enter management/marketing visa transactions into ERP system
Job cost reports
- Prepare variance reports weekly by active job
- Analyze variances in cost categories
Month-end, Year-end Adjusting Entries & Reconciliations
- Prepares Visa reconciliations.
- supports Gov't monthly and year end filings
- Assists in YE working paper prep and documentation support
Other duties:
- Answer phone
- Arrange courier
- Check mail, do bank deposits
- Maintain office supplies
- Filing
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Accounting Diploma or applicable years of experience
- Preference given to those with experience working in construction company
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to work independently with limited need for direction or supervision
- Above average communications skills required (both written & verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office
- Experience in an ERP system is preferred
- Ability to think outside the box
- Experience with Multi-currencies is preferred
- Ability to analyze information
- Ability to develop effective vendor relationships
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
