The Ministry of Health (MOH) Records Officer is a champion of Records and Information Management for the MOH. The Records Officer leads a team within MOH who are responsible for the records management activity within each Division. Records Management activity is a requirement of Ministries which enables them to meet their legislative obligations under the Information Management Act, regulations, Core Policy, and other related legislation and policies (e.g., data classification, retention, authenticity, retrieval, digitization, metadata, destruction/archiving) and to ensure corporate objectives are achieved. This position is the leading role within MOH in influencing change and bringing awareness to the changing landscape of recorded information management, primarily including the challenges of electronic information management and identifying solutions that are appropriate to those challenges. As a key contact in MOH, including providing advice, written direction and guides, this position bridges the domains of information technology and program information management. The Records Management role in MOH has a strong change management component, an awareness of public transparency as good records management supports Freedom of Information response and provides cost saving solutions as a result of reduced storage costs for electronic data.

This position delivers a multi-media records and information management program, including classification, storage, security, inventory, retrieval and destruction.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate related to records management or equivalent. For example, archival studies, information management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation and policy related to records management.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • 1 year or more of experience interpreting and applying legislation and policy related to records management.
  • Experience managing relationships with contracted service providers, which may include providing services in accordance with legislation and policy.
  • 1 year or more of experience supervising staff.
