Position overview

Are you a positive self-starter interested in supporting change in a dynamic and changing environment?

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full-time Airside Coordinator, Capital Projects reporting to the Manager, Integration and Readiness. In this safety critical role, you will collaborate with colleagues to coordinate activities in YVR’s airside environment ensuring operational safety and compliance needs are met while successfully supporting delivery of capital projects into operation. Communication and critical thinking are important skills to ensure disruption to the airport’s stakeholders and operating environment is minimized.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of Airside capital projects to support planning, design and execution in accordance with Transport Canada Standards and Recommended Practices, Nav Canada procedures, and YVR standards and procedures
  • Collaborate and engage with Engineering, Airside subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure thorough assessment and mitigation of project impacts to the Airside operation
  • Monitor and maintain safe and efficient airside operations during project execution by implementing effective communication between operational and project delivery stakeholders
  • Develop, write, review, and issue Plans of Operations, Transport Canada exemptions, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments and other documents related to Airside capital projects
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate the operational readiness, activation, and transition plan to support operationalization of airside capital projects
  • Some evenings/weekend shift work hours may be required in support of operational planning and emergencies (e.g. weather)

Key qualifications include:

  • Five years' recent experience working in an airport’s airside environment or similar industrial environment, supplemented by post-secondary education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Completion of a certificate or diploma in Airport Operations, Operations Management or Construction Management is an asset
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in directing and coordinating stakeholders, contractors, and others in a safety critical, and changing environment
  • Established history of building working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer skills and proven competency with Microsoft Office 365; experience in Visio, Project, SharePoint and Adobe Illustrator is an asset
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to obtain a D/A AVOP license
