Ontario-based Axiom Material Handling Solutions is seeking an Applications Engineering Specialist/ Estimator to join their team. The Applications Engineering (AE) Specialist works with the sales team, estimators, and customers to customize solutions for our customers.

Job Purpose

The AE will asses and research specific requirements to determine estimated costs and write a customer quotation or proposal. The AE will execute all activities in a manner that is conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork while adhering to all policies and procedures of AMHS. Responsibilities include:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in customer RFQ review meetings and engage with the customer at a technical level to understand requirements.
  • Work with OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to create technical specifications and fulfill RFQs and RFPs to articulate supply and installation costs.
  • Develop and gather regional pricing information to support market intelligence.
  • Participate in concept reviews, design kickoffs and manufacturing reviews.
  • Prepare client proposals including pricing, specifications, and scopes, and present them to customers.
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure project success by understanding schedule, resource management, and market intelligence.
  • Liaise between mechanical design, outside electrical and controls contractors and fabrication groups for technical assistance in developing concepts and processes.
  • Create turnover summary documents for Project Managers to start the project.
  • Represent the company at various community and/or business events to promote the company
  • Travel to customer sites to gather necessary project information.
  • Assist in project startup, kick-off, handover, closeout, and lessons learned.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • 5 years of Construction, Mechanical, and Engineering experience.
  • Ability to create and manage the project schedule.
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office.
  • General experience or willingness to work with Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerBI, BIM and other software.
  • Asset – possess a Journeyman’s license (Millwright or Equivalent)
  • Asset – possess a degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Has a valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel across Canada and the USA as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
