Job Description

Job Summary :
AECOM is in need of an Assistant Estimator - Entry-level to work with our client TTC on some of their high-profile public Transit projects.

The job incumbent will be offered a regular, full-time position with AECOM and work on secondment to TTC. The secondment is expected to last until December 2023 – with a possibility of extension.

Candidate will report for work at the TTC office a few times a week for the length of the secondment (COVID safety allowing.) After the secondment is compete, the employee will return to AECOM to be re-assigned to another project. The home office for the employee at that time can be either the AECOM Toronto, Markham or Whitby office (with work from home options available also.)

The description of duties/scope of work is below:
  • Preparation of cost breakdown for the progress payment document;
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports in accordance with standardized formats,
  • Provides support to Section staff and archives estimating records including organizing and maintaining contract documents, records and files;
  • Updating the Estimating Log Book entries (i.e. year of estimate, sequential number, date of estimate log entry, estimate description, contract number reference, past reference estimate numbers relating to the estimate);
  • Assist estimators in obtaining quotations from suppliers / contractors;
  • Prepares annual Section Engineer’s Estimate Accuracy Report for Sr. Management;
  • Prepares pertinent Estimating Section reports for PMO Controls procedures and directives;
  • Schedules meetings, takes meeting minutes, tracks Section training requirements, maintains Section’s weekly assignments/task log;
  • Preparing a variety of routine memoranda, forms, etc. using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :
A University degree.

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Proficiency in the use of current computer software applications, such as Microsoft Excel (including macros, charts, formulas, filters), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; ability to operate other general office equipment necessary to perform duties.
  • Detail oriented, and the ability to proofread and produce error-free documents.
Well-developed interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills for frequent liaison with staff, consultants, and external agencies.

  • Good judgement; strong organizational, research and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, and under minimal supervision, and produce quality work under time constraints.
  • Good knowledge of engineering technology, construction, and project management, cost estimating process with ability to read blueprints.
  • Exposure to multi-discipline engineering technologies, and related cost data, is an asset.
