AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Security Investigations, retrieve and review video footage, maintain and prepare evidentiary packages, conduct investigations, respond to after-hours/week-end urgent requests from external agencies, complete analysis, provide support to Security Services team as required.

  • Conduct retrievals and thorough reviews of video footage from City facilities for investigation purposes.
  • Promptly respond to requests for CCTV footage and assist with the related review.
  • Manages and organizes archives of video footage and historical records, ensuring adherence to MFIPPA, PPIDEA and other legal and procedural requirements.
  • Responsible for preserving relevant footage and ensure availability of back up kits to avoid loss of video recording.
  • Conduct CCTV investigations that are related to low-level/risk incidents, i.e. third party contractor activity, illegal dumping, break and enters, theft (external), less serious policy breaches.
  • Coordinate after-hours/weekend requests for video in relation to serious/significant incidents from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Security Services Control Centre to ensure prompt retrieval of CCTV footage from Transit Buses and City of Brampton facilities in response to incidents deemed urgent by Security Services Management or external agencies such as law enforcement.
  • Provide relevant video footage with an appropriate audit trail to stakeholders and requestors while following established MFIPPA and PIPEDA guidelines, and ensuring prompt delivery of the footage.
  • Support/assist the Security Services Risk Management Team with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Reviews, and the delivery of Security Services related training.
  • Conduct audits at various facilities including camera locations, lighting, signage and make recommendations as necessary.
  • Conduct reviews specific to lighting and/or concealed spaces which are typically conducted overnight and may also take place on weekends.
  • Provide assistance with the delivery of virtual or in-class training to City Staff on topics such as conflict resolution, theft and robbery, persons in crisis, irate customers, violence, and active attacker/shooter protocols. Training delivery may occur outside of business hours in order to accommodate the requirements of internal working groups (Recreation, Parks, etc.).

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:
  • College certificate or diploma in Law and Security, Police Foundations or equivalent

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years of experience working full-time in the field of Security or Law Enforcement
  • Experience working in/with the public sector
  • Experience with CCTV (March Networks, AXIS preferred)
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Experience with Incident Reporting Software (Perspective preferred)
  • Experience with conducting investigations (CCTV at a minimum)
  • Training in CPTED principles will be considered an asset
