The Role

We are looking for a bookkeeper with exceptional analytical and organizational skills to join our team. This role will be responsible for all day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions for the organization and requires a conscientious professional who is able to work with little supervision, and willing to seek assistance when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the full-cycle bookkeeping function for the organization while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Accurately recording employee expenses, client and supplier invoices, and following up to ensure timely payments.
  • Tracking petty cash, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and analyzing balance sheet accounts regularly.
  • Preparing quarterly government remittances for HST and EHT annual returns.
  • Managing payroll and benefits including all related remittances and reporting.
  • Managing Health Care Spending Account.
  • Preparing month and year-end working papers for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenditure accounts.
  • Solving accounting puzzles by researching and reconciling discrepancies and ensuring that the accounting is in good order.
  • Competently using software such as QuickBooks, Ceridian and Excel.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years hands-on experience in bookkeeping, including accounts payable, invoicing, collections, financial statement preparation and payroll.
  • College Diploma in Bookkeeping or a related field.
  • Experience using QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Excellent client service orientation with a high level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and coordinate activities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and tight deadlines.
