Job Summary

This position is responsible for completing all assigned field projects within assigned deadlines under the direction of a foreperson. This role works closely with the woodworking supervisors assisting in fabricating, building and installing site furnishings and wood structures such as arbors and pergolas as well as fencing, retaining walls, decking etc. This role will learn how to read plans and work on active commercial construction sites.


Responsibilities

  • Complete jobs using a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively as trained and required
  • Power tools including drills, saws, hammer drills etc
  • Complete all assigned work safely and effectively
  • Assisting in the loading and unloading of materials
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and complete minor maintenance as required
  • Participate in the completion FLRA, Inspections, Checklists and Toolbox Talks as required
  • Bring attention to any unreported safety concerns requiring attention/correction
  • Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive working relationships with customers and coworkers
  • Participate in all training and performance reviews required by the Company
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials
  • Pursue ongoing education sponsored by the Company as required

Job Specifications Education

  • Post-secondary trades education an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 1-year full-time experience in similar role.
  • Must be proficient in the safe and accurate use of power tools including, but not limited to, Impact drivers, drills, handheld power saws, table saws, mitre saw etc.
  • Personal basic personal tools are required for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Apply physical dexterity with frequent bending, stretching, reaching, grabbing, holding and carrying
  • Hear and speak in order to communicate with others
  • Frequently lifting 30-60lbs, as required
  • Standing, sitting and walking for the majority of the day, sometimes on uneven surfaces or on stairs

Tool belt. 7" Speed square. Dickie bar. Hammer. 25' imperial Tape measure (inch not mm). Torpedo level. Nail bar. Multi tool /pliers (eg leatherman style)

Work Environment

The majority of the work is performed outside on jobsites with exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, possible extreme temperatures, noises, construction material fumes and odors.
