West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Company has an immediate opportunity for a

Commercial/Farm Underwriter to join our Underwriting Team in a full-time position in

Goderich, Ontario. At this time, upon successful completion of a 6-month training period in

the physical office, West Wawanosh Mutual provides a flexible hybrid work arrangement

opportunity for this position, consisting of the option to work remotely for up to 2

days/week.

Reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager, this position is to review, analyze, and

evaluate commercial and farm property and liability business at all transactional touch-

points to determine risk level by using different methods of investigation. Working within a

team environment, the incumbent will provide calculations for policies and support to our

broker force. The incumbent must evaluate policies based on acceptability of risk with a

focus of reducing claim exposure while promoting new business and retention for the

company.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

• Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (verbal and written)

• Sound judgment in decision making, problem solving and prioritization

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and varied complex assignments

• Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to changes in technology, processes

and workflow

• Must work well as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment

• Professional and courteous customer service skills

• Ability to perform moderate mathematical calculations

Skills and Experience

• Completion of post-secondary education in a related field

• Three (3) years minimum of insurance industry experience

• Completion or commitment to achieve professional designation such as Chartered

guidelines, wordings and products
