POSITION TITLE: Community Assisted REsponse (CARE) Worker

JOB STATUS: Casual Position

HOURS OF WORK: 12 hour shifts (11am-11pm / Mon-Sun / split-shifts available)

SALARY: Based on education and experience

JOB SUMMARY: Community Assisted REsponse (CARE) is a pilot project in partnership with the Medicine Hat Police Service to respond to low-risk mental health calls.

The CARE team will assist program participants though system navigation, referrals, follow-up support, and transportation.

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Respond to emergency mental health crisis call, as part of a two-person response team, for the purpose of de-escalation and providing referrals to community services.

▪ Assess program recipient needs and determine appropriate interventions

▪ Collaborate care with community members and other service providers

▪ Work jointly with the Medicine Hat Police Services in coordination & delivery of the program.

▪ Document and collect data to measure program effectiveness, and in accordance with privacy laws.

▪ Adhere to the values and policies of CMHA

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
▪ Undergraduate degree in a human services discipline with 3-5 years of directly related experience in mental health and addictions. Combinations of education and experience may be considered.

▪ Experience working with diverse clientele, and previous training or experience is crisis response, including suicide intervention.

▪ Knowledge of and experience working with vulnerable populations from a strength based approach, in a respectful, non-judgmental, client centered and solution focused manner.

▪ Must have a valid Alberta driver’s license (Company vehicle will be provided), First Aid certificate, ASIST certificate.

▪ Must complete a full Police Security Check (Includes: Personal Disclosure Form and Background Information Form).
