YMCA BC is the result of the unification of YMCA of Northern BC, YMCA-
YWCA of Kamloops and YMCA of Greater Vancouver. Families, children,

wide variety of programs and services through administration, finance,

What you will bring
Our experienced team members are passionate about supporting and
growing the mission and goals of the YMCA throughout BC. They believe
in putting people first with YMCA 5 Star Service and lead by example
through teamwork, innovation, enthusiasm, and meaningful
relationships.

Responsibilities and abilities
Reporting to the Director, Fund Development, this person will be part of a
provincial team and be the ambassador for the YMCA as they activate
community engagement for Northern BC. This role focuses on engaging
the community in YMCA special events like Healthy Kids Day,
administration related to events, engagement, philanthropy and donor
appreciation. This individual will be supporting community events,
administration related to sponsorships, and philanthropy. This individual
has some experience working directly with a variety of internal and
external stakeholders, excellent event management skills, some fund
development experience and a commitment to delivering exceptional
customer service while managing multiple projects and deadlines. They
will have a deep awareness of our community needs and a passion to
make a positive impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual plan to execute community engagement and philanthropy
  • Develop, execute and grow all established YMCA Community Campaign events (i.e. YMCA Megathon, Healthy Kids Day,
community engagement and more) working collaboratively with staff and volunteers
  • Assist the Director and VP Fund Development to plan a single day pledge provincial event to begin in 2024, across BC
  • Participate in the delivery of culture of philanthropy training for all YMCA branches
  • Administration of member and community engagement including sponsorships
  • Assist with the development of budgets, reports, statistics
  • Works closely with Marketing and Communications staff to develop and execute promotion plans for fundraising
activities
  • Ensures compliance with all CRA regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to donors and ensures
compliance to Imagine Canada Accreditation standards
  • Maintain accurate donor files with professional confidentiality, including maintaining a computerized database of
donor information for integration into the Raiser’s Edge system
  • Support Association-wide initiatives and events, coordinating volunteers and staff support
  • Other administrative tasks as required

Qualifications
• Post-Secondary degree or diploma in related field to

  • Experience or education in community engagement an asset, but willing to provide training and development to
the right candidate.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Some experience in fund development, event management or donor communication an asset
  • Ability to plan, implement and monitor event budget
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience and ability in preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external groups
  • Team player with proven ability to foster community relationships and fundraising opportunities.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, implement multiple projects under pressure to meet deadlines
  • High degree of independence and initiative
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and flexible schedule, as required
  • Respect for confidentiality and strong sense of professional ethics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset (note training will be provided)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Three satisfactory professional references.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide

applicable instructions and paperwork.
