We have an exciting opportunity for a Contract Administrator/Specification Assistant to join us here at CBCL!


Our ideal candidate would have experience in some or all the following areas: editing and formatting, technical specifications and construction, contracts, construction contract administration, awareness of construction tendering and processes, working with a design team, and working in an ISO 9001 registered company.


As an active team member, you will help to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with established processes and procedures. You will also play an integral role in the successful and on-time delivery of services and deliverables.


We are seeking individuals who are excited to participate with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary design solutions with an emphasis on client satisfaction.


We are open to remote work arrangements if one of our existing office locations isn’t a good fit for you.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of tender packages including contracts and specifications;
  • Interpret technical specifications and contract clauses and provide assistance to project managers and design staff;
  • Participate in internal meetings with Project Services staff to discuss project strategies and workflow deadlines;
  • Work with the Group Lead of Project Services and Project Managers to establish clear document control procedures;
  • Manage and monitor timelines related to submissions or review processes;
  • Provide project reporting including progress reporting, change orders, supplemental instructions, shop drawing logs, and other construction contract administration documentation;
  • Oversee contract administration duties and provide assistance to project managers and field staff.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Diploma in construction/contract administration or other related discipline;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in contract administration;
  • Accreditation of either Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP) or Registered Specification Writer (RSW) is an asset;
  • LEED accreditation is an asset;
  • Previous relevant experience in engineering industry is an asset;
  • Knowledge of construction specification formats including MasterFormat/ SectionFormat;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, MS Project);
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with team members and various design disciplines;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude;
  • Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, and manage time;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
