Reporting to the Cultural Services Manager, the Cultural and Community Events Supervisor will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing a wide variety of large scale City events and coordinating the community events program. You will work collaboratively with community organizations, and facilitate consultative processes with various community and government stakeholders, so strong written and verbal communication will be key. You will be preparing administrative documents, grants, funding proposals, reports, and administering event budgets. You will direct the work of staff and volunteers, and be developing policies, procedures and guidelines related to the work. The ideal candidate for this position will be a team leader who has experience developing and implementing large-scale community events and cultural programming. You will possess outstanding service excellence, effectively manage competing deadlines and work well under pressure. You are able to build and maintain strong working relationships, and are able to work collaboratively. Considerable independent judgement, action and initiative are exercised within established guidelines while unusual issues are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance for the attainment of desired goals and objectives. These attributes will be matched with a post-secondary degree, diploma, certificate or courses in special event management or cultural programming, as well as related experience in leading projects for the delivery of large-scale events and cultural programming. We are also looking for previous supervisory experience, which will be key to the role. If you meet these qualifications, we encourage you to apply!

The City offers a competitive salary $37.12 - $43.82 per hour as well as an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
