Data and Inventory Analyst

About The Data and Inventory Analyst
This role supports the company overall with Data Analysis in every aspect of the business, from Sales to Customer Service and everything in between, as well as specializing in Inventory Control. This person is responsible in providing business insight and direction backed by data.

This role will work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Inventory Specialist to identify opportunities to improve Inventory Control and close gaps with any deficiencies in our processes, as well as suggest cycle count plans, develop and run reports to find discrepancies, root causes and solving them.

The candidate requires very strong Excel skills, knowledge of SQL and VBA, and an understanding of data science and data engineering. Should also have an understanding of how ERP systems work and ideally have had exposure to a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have passion for data, its analysis and able to deduce insights. Can work independently and is self-driven to drive business value and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, restructure and manage large datasets
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based tools and reports using VBA and SQL for operations, sales and other functional teams
  • Gather and help management team to develop and run their monthly KPIs
  • Develop data analysis and models using predictive data models for stock management
  • Collaborate directly with production and supply chain teams using the data models and analysis to provide insights that drive operations improvements (i.e. Reduce stock outs, planning procurement lead times, reduce overstocking)
  • Monitor, investigate and facilitate the correction of inventory discrepancies
  • Recommend process and procedure changes to improve inventory accuracy and overall supply chain efficiency
  • Develop data analysis on a monthly basis to identify slow moving inventory and inventory that is turning below benchmark
  • Proactively collaborates with internal stakeholders to provide findings for action planning
  • Supports finance team with reporting queries using SQL and Tableau as well as other relevant BI tools to enable efficient reporting and analysis of sales and Cost of goods
  • Writes technical memos that document data processing queries actively used in business operations
  • Support Implementation of continuous improvement processes
  • Assist in the design, implementation and enforcement of data infrastructure and system policies
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs; may work in hot areas 5%, noise 5%.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area
  • Perform other duties as required

Attributes, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
  • At least 3 years of data analytics experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in inventory management
  • At least 2 years of ERP systems experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience / exposure to business, operations preferred
  • Experience and ability to write database queries
  • Technical and data manipulation experience with Excel (pivot tables, Lookups), as well as SQL and VBA
  • Tableau or BI platform experience an asset
  • Strong analytical skills and solutions oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, managing multiple priorities
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify stakeholder needs through inquiry and inventory needs
  • Ability to communicate results of complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

This position works out of our Mississauga, Ontario location. Hours are typically 8:30am to 5:00pm with flexibility.
