TerraGen has supplied over 50 MW of racking solutions ranging from our standard TGR flat roof ballasted system, to our TGT tilted pitched roof system, to our TGP flush mount system and custom site-specific designs for various customers. Job Summary:

The Designer/Drafter role is an entry level position geared towards new engineering graduates. The role will work closely with the sales department to prepare layouts, design calculations, proposals and offer technical support. They will also work with the projects team on the design of the projects including preparation of racking design packages, engineering bill of materials, construction packages and production drawings.

We are specifically seeking those who posses an aggressive and overachieving demeanor, are driven and a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is confident and eager to take on more responsibilities at any given time. In addition, someone who has the potential to grasp the role quickly and move into a designer position for new product development.

Role Description:

  • Provide pre-sales technical leadership to sales on preparing proposals for client projects
  • Provide leadership on specific projects or portfolio of projects for all engineering activities post sales.
  • Review client provided documents and prepare proposals including preliminary layouts and ballasting designs
  • In coordination with project engineering/manager, identify and address technical challenges on project sites and provide solutions.
  • Obtain & utilize a strong understanding of all relevant codes and standards including NBC, IBC, CSA, UL, ASCE, SEOAC and ensure project designs are in compliance
  • Prepare and/or manage the development of tools to automate proposal generation activities
  • Support the development of all final layouts, ballasting plans, construction plans, structural engineering plans, and manufacturing BOM’s for assigned Projects

Competencies:

  • Undergraduate Degree from a Canadian University in Engineering or related field required
  • 1-3 years experience in a Design environment preferred
  • Competent in CAD software, Solidworks and AutoCAD required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel and its formulas
  • Understanding of design principals and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Strong communication and comfortable dealing with external interactions
  • Team oriented with a positive attitude and eager to learn
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize
