Position Description

Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire a new Diesel Mechanic to be a key member in our Mechanic Shop servicing Fulger Transport’s operations. The ideal candidate would be an experienced automotive repair professional with a proven track record within the commercial truck repair industry. This individual would be an independent self-starter with the ability to work in a past paced environment. This position will require the successful candidate to occasionally work on weekends and retain periodic on call availability.

In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need:

- A general understanding of the Logistics and Transportation Industry.

- Experience and knowledge with commercial truck repair.

The main tasks associated with this position include:

- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services.

- Identify warrantable repairs and document the repair order.

- Maintain work area appearance and safety.

- Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.

- Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.

- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.

- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.

- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.

- Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.

- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.

- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.

- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.

- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.

- Other projects and tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications

Experience: This individual must have at least 5 years in commercial truck repair.

Education: Highschool diploma is required. Respective Provincial License such as Red Seal/310T is an asset.

- Ability to work both independently and within a team.

- Extremely organized and detail oriented.

- Must possess a strong work ethic.

- Demonstrated ability to lead a team.

- Solid interpersonal skills.

- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $36.00-$42.00 per hour
