One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 1 FTE Registered Dietitian, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide individual and group education programs and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary model of care. Travelling to other sites is required outside the city of Thunder Bay.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree in foods and nutrition, and completion of Dietitians of Canada accredited Dietetic Internship, preferably with a community focus.
  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Membership with the Dietitians of Canada an asset.
  • Experience working with clients and families living with diabetes-type 2, pre-diabetes is an asset and a Canadian Diabetes Educator certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel/MS Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and group facilitation skills.
  • Proven experience working in community based programs and ability to implement participant driven programs.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues in nutrition.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to communities served.
  • Ability to load, unload and transfer supplies/equipment on the mobile units.
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel to other sites.
