The Digital Strategy and Operations Branch of the IT Division is looking for three talented and passionate Digital Service Designers to play a vital role in shaping and evolving government digital services.

As an embedded member of multi-disciplinary teams, this role applies human-centred and service design methods for understanding problems facing the public and providing solutions for users’ during the end-to-end journey. As a Digital Service Designer, you will be responsible for researching and understanding the needs and mindsets of our users. You will also define service design flows, wireframes, interactions, and visual designs across our range of platforms, as well as testing and evaluating the effectiveness of these designs. You must be a critical, inventive thinker with clear design knowledge and skills. You must also have an excitement for understanding and using data, and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively.

In this position, you will:

  • Synthesize information to clearly communicate the needs of stakeholders and service opportunities;
  • Lead design for large projects that present multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple platforms and departments;
  • Lead the full service experience design process for a project, from discovery and research, through to concept development, to wireframes, to high-fidelity mock-ups;
  • Partner with work team members to build and iterate on prototypes and services;
  • Facilitate stakeholder groups through the design process, such as leading interviews, user feedback sessions, and other discovery activities;
  • Outline key success metrics to measure and communicate outcomes on desirability, feasibility, and viability;
  • Coach non-designers such as faculty and staff on human-centered design principles and the design process, and facilitate workshops with diverse groups across the organization; and,
  • Confidently present work to a range of stakeholders – executives, developers, business leaders, and vendor partners.

The Digital Service Designer will be assigned to multiple projects or initiatives, and will be expected to self-manage numerous work streams and produce deliverables in a timely manner by working with the Project Manager(s) assigned to the projects and/or initiatives.

Resumes from qualified candidates must detail extensive knowledge of the digital industry and substantive experience as a leader in a digital team or comparable web-based projects. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in leading or delivering enterprise digital solutions.
