POSITION: Director, Nutrition Services

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Nutrition Services is responsible for the overall management of the Nutrition Services Department and providing these services to residents, staff, clients, and guests. The Director discharges these responsibilities in conjunction with Villa policies and procedures, and Ministry guidelines and standards. The Director is a member of the Leadership Team and provides critical thinking, strategic planning and problem solving.

REPORTS TO: CEO/Administrator

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nutrition Manager Degree/Diploma or related course of study from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Current member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Managers.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong computer skills for report writing, creation of forms, program updating, etc

Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for the overall management of the department
- Assist in maintaining an efficient nutrition services operation that meets MOHLTC standards for sanitation, food safety, food preparation, and food service.
- The inputting of schedules into the computerized payroll/scheduling program bi-weekly making adjustments as required, replace staff as required.
- Preparation and posting of menus providing nutritious and appealing meals to residents and clients that conform with Canada’s guide to healthy eating and the MOHLTC guidelines and standards for dining.
- Ensure therapeutic menus and production sheets are printed for cooks according to the weekly menu using the electronic menu program.
- Assist with the purchase of food and supplies from reputable suppliers/working with purchasing supplier groups on contract.
- Assist in coordinating catering functions and order supplies as needed.
- Responsible for quarterly reviews and resident documentation on Point Click Care.
- Attend weekly resident care conferences and follow through with documentation as required.
- Maintain resident nutrition service records from admission onward; including changes required from Registered Dietician’s visit, etc.
- Attend, participate and provide input at staff meetings and other committee meetings as required.
- Provide input into policy and procedure reviews and updates.
- Coordinate, update and prepare all forms and worksheets used with the department.
- In the absence of the Registered Dietician, assist in counselling resident as well as family members on therapeutic diets and nutrition related issues.
- Assist with month-end billing and CQI statistics.
- In the performance of all duties, demonstrate respect for the privacy, dignity, and individuality of the resident; adhere to home policy on confidentiality.
- Perform all duties and demonstrate conduct in accordance with the policies and procedures of Ritz Lutheran Villa.
- Other duties as assigned.
