We currently have an opportunity for a Director of Industry Affairs. In this role you will promote and advance the company's interests by seeking, developing, and maintaining relationships with industry groups and various levels of government. You will act as a key advisor to the company in navigating major transitions and maintaining its public image, while working cross-functionally to translate industry level policy changes into business requirements and revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of relationships and act as point of contact with key industry groups, agency officials and elected representatives, across all geographies where the company's interests are represented
• Identify and pursue funding, grant and related revenue opportunities
• Work closely with key members of the senior and executive leadership team to further the goals and objectives of Farmers Edge, positioning the company for sustainable growth
• Build the company's image and uncover new business opportunities by promoting Farmers Edge products and solutions at various industry events
• Stay abreast of government and industry-level initiatives and programs, and translate changing requirements into actionable company insights
• Work cross-functionally with various departments across the organization to capitalize on industry-level opportunities by being a key advisor to future and ongoing product development and corporate development activities
• Oversee and ensure achievement of the company's R&D grant strategy, by taking a resourceful and creative approach in identifying and developing proposals for additional funding
• Work with the company's external public relations partner to write press releases, prepare information for media distribution, and respond to media requests for information
• Provide day-to-day leadership the company's proposal group, by helping to establish priorities, trouble shooting tasks, and ensuring that all team recruiting, development and performance objectives are being met

This role could be a good fit for you if you have:

• At least 7 years progressive professional experience in a Public Relations, Industry Relations, and/or Government Relations role, preferably in a for-profit environment
• Post-secondary education in Communications, Policy, Business Administration, Agriculture or a related field
• Relationships and an existing network of key contacts in agribusiness and/or government
• Proven experience in negotiations, proposal writing, and government policy analysis

You will have the option of working remotely from mostly anywhere in Canada. Candidates based in Winnipeg, MB may also choose to work from our Corporate Office.
