What will be your daily pursuit?:
The Director of Retail (“DOR”) is responsible to oversee all retail operations across the Banff Jasper Collection.
Retail responsibilities include buying, inventory management, management of a retail distribution center and
overseeing (11) retail outlets that include gift shops and integrated attraction photo experiences. The DOR is
responsible to identify and manage the business to achieve or exceed established targets and to create and
manage ongoing budgets. The DOR oversees a team of retail leads and associates to be sure locations are wellprepared for seasonal opening/closing dates and ensures that store layout, appearance, merchandising,
inventory, and service levels are maintained at the highest quality level.

What will you do in this job?:
  • Develop short, medium and long-term strategic retail plans to grow the retail business
  • Plan unique assortment opportunities to drive revenue in all locations
  • Directly manage the warehouse, purchasing and retail systems teams, and support the execution strategy
    for all Banff Jasper Collection retail outlets (11)
  • Create and deliver retail sales training programs for retail managers and associates
  • Ensure ongoing forecasting and reforecasting of retail store budgets, including Labor, Operating
    Expenses, Cost of Sales, Inventory costs stores: a) sales; b) cost of sales; c) inventory; d) labor.
  • Execute new retail infrastructure initiatives from ideation through to execution stages of project
    planning
  • Develop a purchasing and inventory lifecycle plan for all retail outlets in the Banff Jasper Collection
  • Monitor retail purchasing with a focus on high % margins and driving revenue, maximizing margin
    dollar velocity
  • Manage inventory to ensure safety stock is in place, out-of-stocks are minimized and inventory overages
    are limited
  • Establish procedures to minimize inventory loss, theft
  • Review, analyze and report on all P&L metrics, developing actions to control labor and maximize revenue
    opportunities
  • Coordinate merchandising plans for retail outlets, supporting retail managers, retail warehouse
    operations, and operational managers in each property
  • Ensure health & safety protocols are followed in all retail locations selling food items
  • Develop and implement store opening/closing and training procedures
  • Manage accounts payable processes for retail expenses
  • Ability to forecast future retail buying plans and present a retail receipt and sales flow to the VP, Retail
    for purchasing decisions
  • Regular travel between Banff, Jasper and Golden will be required
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a retail leadership role required
  • Experience managing teams in multiple retail units required
  • Experience interviewing and hiring retail team members required
  • Solid knowledge of purchasing, merchandising, and budgets required
  • Experience with Point of Sale systems and setups required, Retail Pro preferred
  • Experience with labor scheduling tools strongly preferred
  • Must be able to utilize standard MS Office tools including Excel, Word, PPT, Teams
  • Experience and understanding of the travel & hospitality industry preferred
