Scope of the Position

The Director of Operations (DO) will oversee the operating businesses for all Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation. The Director of Operations is responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the operating businesses (Marinas, Gas bars, RV Par/ Modular Homes, Lynwood Properties, and New Brighton Dock).

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President Operations & HR and having latitude and autonomy to make decisions, the DO collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team to develop corporate and operational strategies and to facilitate these efforts across the operating businesses.

Through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style guided by corporate objectives, the DO provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the operating businesses have the proper operational controls and administrative and reporting procedures, people resources are in place to grow the operating businesses effectively s and to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency.

Position Status

This is a Permanent Full-time position.

A. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities

  • Oversee all operating business activities.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership team to establish and accomplish goals and to develop operations plans to further the successes of the operating businesses.
  • Gather and analyze trends to assist in achieving the corporate strategy.
  • Lead developing, communicating, and implementing effective operational growth and processes.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the measurement and effectiveness of all operational processes.
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating businesses.
  • Foster, motivate and lead a high-performance culture within the operating businesses.
  • Mentor direct reports to cultivate skills and increase awareness of the interconnections between each business unit and in the operations groups.
  • Provide direction to business units that mirror the adopted mission and core values of the Nch’ḵaỷ.
  • Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of Nch’ḵaỷ’s industries.
  • Responsible for capital planning and expenditures.
  • Establish training and short, and long-term goals for the operation’s teams.
  • Represent the Corporation at various community activities and gatherings.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Hire and train members of the operating team.
  • Directly manage members of the operations team, who collectively manage employees in all business locations/offices.
  • Establish key performance indicators for the management of the operating group.
  • Manage performance and ensure that staff operate according to NDC’s policies and applicable legislation.
  • Direct and delegate work and assist with the establishment of priorities.
  • Motivate and reward staff.
