Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Heavy Equipment Operator- Dozer Operator is responsible for assisting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman with accomplishing the project goals and day-to-day objectives and to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified
  • Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines
  • Operate controls to properly regulate height and angle of the blade
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment
  • Operate the dozer on surfaces to raise or lower terrain either as specified in the scope of work; reclamation; ditching, sloping, levelling, ripping, pushing piles, rough to final grading, clean up support for soil, rock or other debris.
  • Operate dozer proficiently in close proximity to other vehicles, ground personnel, and utilities
  • Maintain equipment, report any maintenance required
  • Adhere to all Fort McKay Group of Companies policies and procedures, wear/maintain all PPE, reliably show up for work fit for duty, and complete any Field Level Hazard Assessments
  • (FLRA) and control hazards related to the scope of work
  • Assist the Labourers or any other Operator as needed
  • Perform any related and/or additional construction duties as assigned
  • 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift
Skills and Qualifications Required:
  • Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
  • Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
  • 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
  • At least 3+ years of experience operating a dozer with construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.
  • CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
  • Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the MLX Site (Syncrude Site).
Camp available, locals preferred.
