We are looking to immediately fill a key position of Electrical EIT - Building Systems to help us take the next step in our growth. As we are a small buildings engineering firm at the moment, the successful candidate will play an important role in a small team environment. Working closely with senior staff, the successful candidate will quickly gain experience in all technical aspects of this industry. This is an opportunity for a motivated team player to learn all facets of this business in depth, and also define their own role while helping to shape the growth of our company. The role:

You will work under the guidance of senior staff to carry out the following tasks:

  • You will immediately take on the design of electrical building systems using AutoCAD or Revit for building renovations and new buildings that include power distribution, lighting, general power outlets, communications, emergency lighting and illuminated exit signage, and fire alarm systems
  • Travel to various building sites and building types to determine existing conditions
  • Carry out electrical calculations as required for electrical systems, such as power and lighting; carry out lighting calculations using software to assist with indoor and outdoor lighting designs
  • Meet with clients to on site or within office to review electrical designs
  • Coordinate your electrical designs with other engineering and architectural designers
  • Utilize applicable codes and standards to achieve compliance with them
  • Carry out inspections at construction sites to evaluate progress of electrical construction
  • Effectively utilize computerized tools for design, in-office work, remote work, and communication

Requirements:

  • This is an in-person role: must be able to work in person from our Kitchener office, and preferably live in either the Waterloo or Wellington regions
  • MUST HAVE:
  • Graduated from an accredited accredited engineering degree program
  • Registered as EIT with PEO (or ability to register as EIT)
  • One (1) to five (5) years of experience using AutoCAD
  • Ability to think critically and analytically to develop effective solutions for design challenges
  • Ability to manage competing priorities over several projects and manage time effectively
  • Preferred Experience: Lighting analysis software (AGI32, Dialux, Relux)
  • Must be eligible to work within Canada

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated work experience with a buildings engineering consulting firm
  • Experience carrying out photometric calculations using a lighting design software package (AGi32, Dialux, Relux)

Compensation:

  • Starting hourly rate to be commensurate with experience with opportunity for rate increase based on performance

  • registration as EIT (or eligible) with PEO? (required)
