An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Peterborough, Ontario. As an Electrical Engineer, you will develop electrical systems from an architectural concept to a physical design that can be manufactured.

In this role, you will join our innovative team working on the Mission Bay Handling System for the Type 26 frigate being built for the United Kingdom's Royal Navy.


Innovation is our DNA at Rolls-Royce. At our Peterborough, Ontario location we develop custom electro-mechanical solutions for our Naval Defence and Marine customers.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyzes and translates high level requirements and applicable standards into software requirements
  • Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of system components to facilitate software design
  • PLC, HMI program organization, planning, development and documentation
  • Testing and validation of code developed for reliability and safety
  • Install programs and support system integration at our facility and in the field
  • Support system level testing at our facility and in the field



Basic Requirements:

  • A recognized engineering degree with 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in English with a high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Siemens Step 7 or other PLC programming software
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident



Preferred Requirements:

  • A recognized electrical engineering degree and license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P.Eng
  • Experience with Indusoft HMI or other HMI programming software
  • Experience with Danfoss Plus+1 or other graphical interface programming software
  • Comfortable working around large equipment
  • Willing to travel on an occasional basis to support product commissioning /testing in the field and/or to support design qualification testing at third-party test house(s)
