The Opportunity


The Environmental Manager optimizes environmental and sustainably practices by leading teams to ensure that environmental issues are assessed, managed, and understood across business units across Canada. The Environmental Manager will provide technical advice and guidance regarding business practices related to environmental programs and provide assurance to DP World Group Environmental and Sustainability Standards and Governance. This position covers Canada, therefore frequent travel will be required.


In This Role, You Will:


  • Assist in the implementation of standardization of Environmental and Sustainability systems, programs, policies, training, campaigns and programs to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Assist Director of HSSE to plan, budget and execute annual and long term plans for environment, sustainability and decarbonization objectives striving for continuous improvement.
  • Support business units in achieving and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with all federal and provincial environmental regulatory requirements and monitor for developments, changes, and advocating for industry matters.
  • Preform environmental inspections, audits, investigations in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage environmental documentation for approval, including license or permit applications for new or existing businesses.
  • Work with leadership and internal stakeholders to ensure that environmental liabilities and issues are identified, managed and reported.
  • Manage direct reports as Environmental team expands and develops providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Actively participate in industry related organizations and liaise with peers to keep of industry standards and regulatory changes or amendments.
  • Assist HSSE Director identify environmental opportunities, overseeing capital projects, and developing campaigns to strengthen environmental awareness or improve Environmental and Sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist HSSE Director at establishing, maintaining and reporting on waste, energy, water, marine or biodiversity metrics.


What You Bring To The Role


  • Environmental, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences or Hygiene Degree or equivalent
  • 5 years’ of related experience with managing and overseeing environmental and sustainability programs
  • Experience in development and execution of Environmental Management Programs
  • Preferred experience in marine industry is an asset
  • Experience with ISO 14001 is an asset
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, think critically, make decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to engage collaboratively and effectively with internal and external teams and other associated stakeholders.
  • Proficient and efficient using all Microsoft Office applications including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication in English, including excellent writing skills, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to carry out detailed and sometimes involved instructions in written and oral form.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and successfully support multiple projects and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Self-starter with a positive, hands-on approach and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
