Description

Based in Fort St. John, the focus of this position is to support the implementation of ConocoPhillips Canada’s external relations strategy which includes partnering with communities to develop mutually beneficial relationships. This position will be responsible for working with both internal stakeholders and Indigenous communities to create opportunities for relationship building and understanding. This role engages with a wide cross section of ConocoPhillips workgroups and leaders to ensure ongoing communication and broad understanding of business and community values.



Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with communities and be a community ambassador for ConocoPhillips
  • Liaise with Indigenous communities regarding community investment opportunities
  • Plan or support planning of events and participate in community events including ordering catering or promotional materials, volunteering in community, and helping with set up and clean up at events.
  • Represent ConocoPhillips and attend and support various community meetings, events, field visits, etc.
  • Lead and facilitate Stewardship meetings with communities, understand ConocoPhillips projects and support information sharing with communities about project information
  • Build positive relationships and work collaboratively with Surface Land, Operations, Capital Projects, and Wells groups
  • Facilitate relationship building for other team members, including leadership, with community members
  • Support ConocoPhillips collaboration with other parties on regional programs and services
  • Support organizational learning and development about Indigenous culture
  • Work collaboratively with team members to create and support team goals
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and goal setting to advance commitments to communities
  • Emergency Response support
  • Support training & employment strategies/plans
  • Present data/information confidently both internally and externally
  • Support local contracting opportunities and meetings

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in an external relations related field
  • 3 – 5 years of experience working in the oil and gas sector
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and navigate challenging relationship dynamics
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and self-discipline, and ability to build trust and confidence
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license (and driver’s abstract)
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
