Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager in Community Addiction and Mental Health Clinic (CAMHC)-Central Services, this advanced Family Counsellor position serves Young Adults 18-24 and their families who present with complex and co-occurring mental health disorders and associated developmental, cognitive, behavioral and emotional issues. The position provides individual interventions, groups, case management, consultation, support to families and care-providers, and community resourcing. The position demands both clinical and systems expertise. As a member of a team and within the context of family-centered care, the Family Counsellor completes assessments, provides timely service, facilitates the integration of services to provide optimal client service, advocates on behalf of clients, and assists with securing appropriate community resources and navigating systems. This position will also support engagement and co-design work in coordination with a Project Manager and Research team. The candidate must be knowledgeable about community resources and have strong assessment and therapy skills and the proven ability to provide evidence-based brief and episodic treatment. The position is assigned to the CAMHC – Central Clinic but may be assigned to another service within Community Services according to client and operational needs.

Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Supervised training and 3-5 years' experience in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment with the Adolescent and/or Emerging Adult population. Authorized to perform Psychosocial Intervention required. Advanced DBT Treatment Skills required. Trauma informed training and experience required. Current knowledge and experience using of a range of clinical modalities including individual, family & group intervention is required. Advanced knowledge of DSM V required. Knowledge of community resources required. Experience delivering single-session and/or brief therapy modalities is required. Ability to facilitate referrals and connect families to appropriate resources required. Experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and related behavioural, cognitive and social issues required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Trauma intensive training preferred. Level 1&2 training in Collaborative Problem Solving preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners preferred. Experience working in patient engagement and program development preferred. Brain Story Certified. Must have a calm, warm and engaging style. Ability to work independently and meet necessary deadlines. Ability to be flexible and manage change. Experience in program planning, evaluation and/or research preferred.
