The Opportunity: The Family Empowerment Worker is responsible for providing supervised visitation for children-in-care with family members. The incumbent will provide transportation to and from visits for children and teach life skills to parents and other family members who access the Family Empowerment Program.

  • Teaches life skills to the parents and other family members who access services from the Family Empowerment program. These include; behavior modification methods, role modeling, open discussions, and role-playing.
  • Provides information on parenting skills, including but not limited to behavior management, how to set limits and boundaries effective ways of disciplining, effective use of time outs, natural and logical consequences, building self esteem and stages of child development and age appropriate behaviors
  • Provides information on personal functioning
  • Provides supervised access visits for clients
  • Adhere to standards of confidentiality
  • Comply with all relevant standards for documentation and reporting

What You Will Bring to The Role:

  • Social Services Diploma/Certificate preferred; or
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years’ experience in a related area of practice
  • Two years’ experience in a related area of practice
