Position Description

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual for our General Manager role for our 100 Mile/ Williams Lake/ Quesnel area locations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Liaise with superior to make decisions for business improvement and set strategic goals.
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Regularly evaluate the efficiency and profitability of business processes and procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.
  • Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with external processes/practices, i.e. MOL, MOE.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with contracts to ensure compliance.
  • Logistical decisions, determine location of loads.
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Responsible for ensuring audit program is executed and adhered to.
  • Actively participate in the development of action and saving plans in coordination with production departments as well as outside resources.
  • Work with the Departmental teams to continually maximize the effectiveness of the production program, promoting problem solving as a team.
  • Ensure proactive performance management through annual reviews.
  • Support new or additional training with respect to the project plan for all employees and ensure training records are current.
  • Code of Conduct – Promote Accountability, Integrity and Diligence through demonstrated behaviors and open communication at all levels.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a related industrial field.
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Post-secondary education in business preferred.
  • Data analytics.
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Set/Meet budgetary requirements.
  • Computer competencies – outlook/excel.
  • Post-secondary education in related field.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Active participation in the site operations, including physically touring the facilities.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to various locations.
  • Strong market knowledge and key awareness of the changes occurring in the recycling and related industries, as well as best practices.
  • Ability to communicate information and influence key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Keen attention to detail.
