YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:


Reporting to the Health & Safety Training Supervisor, you will be part of the Health & Safety Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Ensure that safety standards are maintained, tracking/investigating accidents and compiling statistics;
  • Responsible for induction, training, and organizing required training to meet the department standards;
  • Observe and instruct on safe work practices and procedures;
  • Ensure the site executes and complies with the elements of the Health and Safety Management programs;
  • Prepare safety related reports and update H&S statistics;
  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of specific health and safety programs as directed;
  • Develop training initiatives as part of the health, safety and wellness of the Agnico Eagle H&S team;
  • Identify, monitor and correct health and safety hazards;
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on health and safety issues;
  • Monitor employee adherence to safety regulations and enforce proper health and safety protocols;
  • Promote safe and healthy working conditions and recommend ways to improve overall safety conditions by developing strategies to control risk in the workplace;
  • Perform periodic site inspections in order to assess risk and ensure all safety regulations and protocols are adhered to and meet applicable safety standards;
  • Understand the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and work with the HSR Manager to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements;
  • Responsible and accountable for supporting operations in terms of safety meetings, huddles, develop and manage procedures and standards;
  • Provide guidelines for safe work including the development and review of standards, procedures and JHA’s ensure all health and safety measures are being taken and accounted for;
  • Support of inspections and audits for the HSR department, JHSC and approved request of other committees/depts that requires inspections/audits;
  • Manage incident reporting and structure of incoming data;
  • Capacity to development of Health and Safety standards, procedures and conducting Job Hazard Analysis;
  • Ensure site compliance to local (Provincial) and National legislation;
  • Ability to deliver induction and orientation of new employees;
  • Inspect, audit and evaluation of health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and practices;
  • Development of health and safety materials required for presentations including but not limited to videos, power points etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • High School Diploma;
  • Degree or Diploma in OHS is considered an asset;
  • A solid background in the Mining Operations or a combination of suitable experience is required;
  • Working knowledge of EHS software;
  • A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants;
  • Trade certification or designation is considered an asset;
  • CRSP Designation is considered an asset;
  • Train-the-Trainer ceritifcation is considered an asset;
  • Leadership experience and training is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
