Trillium Staffing is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator for one of our clients located in Orangeville, ON. Our client is a global plastics manufacturer, and their business is growing!

The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety programs and ensures compliance with accepted safety standards and applicable legislation.

This is a full time, 18-month contract position with the possibility of it becoming permanent!!

What You’ll do as a Health & Safety Coordinator:

  • Responds to plant safety concerns and provides guidance and counseling
  • Coordinates accident/incident investigations and provides effective follow-up for corrective actions Maintains the WHMIS/GHS program and ensures accuracy of chemical inventory, maintains SDS Conducts H&S formal company employee onboarding
  • Liaises with other departments (e.g., Maintenance, Engineering) to ensure safety compliance on new equipment and processes
  • Develops and maintains documents, IRS (Policies and Procedures, On-Line Manual)
  • Responsible for H&S communications & data reporting - prepare communications, input data, and data reporting.
  • Administration of claims management, return to work programs including WSIB, STD, LTD
  • Conduct Physical Demands Analysis when required
  • Conducts and facilitates H&S training
  • Assessment of site-specific requirements which include emergency protocols, safe work plans and procedures and regulatory requirements, hygiene monitoring
  • Maintains safety supplies, first aid kits, and coordinates the introduction of new safety supplies

Qualifications required for a Health & Safety Coordinator:

  • College diploma/program in Occupational Health and Safety Management an asset
  • 3-5 years of directly related occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Working knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, regulations, and guidelines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision with well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience in developing policies, procedures, safety talks; conducting hazard assessments and workplace inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be available to support all shifts including office and shop floor
  • Regular presence on the manufacturing shop floor is a requirement
  • Must have own CSA Approved Ankle covered safety boots
  • Must be able to work an 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday
  • Must be double vaccinated for COVID-19 and be willing to provide proof
