Pathways Home Assessment Program actively recruiting Home Study Practitioners ACROSS

ALBERTA highlighting the Southern and Northern areas (Peace River, Edson, High Level,

Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Brocket). Pathways is seeking to contract with dynamic Home Study

Practitioners to join our Pathways team.

The Home Study Practitioner is responsible for the completion of a Structured Analysis Family

Evaluation (SAFE). The Home Study Report contains the following activities: review of

documentation, conducting interviews with applicants and collateral contacts, evaluate/assess

information, mitigation meeting, author and edit the report, and timely submission of required

documentation.

Skills/Knowledge required:

  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Written and oral English proficiency with excellent communication skills and accurate reporting
  • Possess characteristics of maturity, self-motivation, and leadership
  • Possesses strong critical thinking, assessment, and interview skills
  • Ability to utilize digital documentation and execute common software applications
  • Display good professional judgment, diplomacy, and the highest standard of professional ethics
when dealing with stakeholders and other professionals
  • Experience with Child Intervention, familiarity and understanding regarding the complex issues
for kinship, foster care, adoption, and private guardianship applicants
  • An understanding of the presenting needs for children in care
  • Flexible, adheres to a strengths based practice and works collaboratively with others
  • Knowledge in the areas of child development, indigenous communities, trauma informed
practice, and grief and loss


Qualifications/Eligibility:

Degree/Diploma in Social Work with a minimum of five (5) years direct experience in a Human

Service field. Preference given to SAFE trained individuals with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in

conducting interviews for the purpose of evaluation/assessment. Registration in good standing with the

Alberta College of Social Workers or with a respective governing body under the Health Professions

Act. Professional insurance with a $2,000,000 liability including Errors and Omissions and personal

WCB coverage.

Required to have access to a vehicle and ability to travel within home Children Services Region and

surrounding area up to 200 km. Current Intervention Record Check and Security Clearance (w/

Vulnerable Sector) required.
