The Opportunity
Employment Type:
Permanent Part Time 0.7 FTE

Hours of Work:
Day shifts (subject to change to add nights and weekends) Extended hours of repetitive motion tasks such as, but not limited to, standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting , pushing, pulling, over heard reaching, portering clients, transferring and toileting
Experience with CHOICE preferred
Experience with clients with diagnosis of dementia preferred.
Must be registered with the HCA Directory prior to hire

Wages:
Rate of Pay is Commensurate with HSW (Home Support Worker) and not HCA (Health Care Aide) pay scale
As per AUPE Collective Agreement for Home Support Worker
Letters of Portability accepted at hire

You will provide assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal service and leisure activities and other related duties.

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) certificate and experience working with seniors and those with dementia is preferred. You are able to work well within a team, possess excellent interpersonal skills and are a strong communicator in both verbal and written English. Food Safe 1 is required (post July 29, 2013) or equivalent for BC employees and Food Safety Basic or equivalent for Alberta employees.

Requirements:

  • A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
  • A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.

COVID-19 Immunization: Proof of full immunization against COVID-19. Full immunization status is achieved when 14 days have passed after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or the first dose of a single-dose vaccine.
