Reporting to the Manager of Housekeeping, the Housekeeper provides our residents with a clean and tidy living space, assists with laundry services and takes pride in the overall cleanliness and beauty of the Empire. As our successful candidate, you will be a dynamic, self-motivated professional interested in providing quality-focused care to older adults in a home-like atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean, dust and vacuum residents' suites and public areas of the residence, i.e. common areas, lounges, corridors and elevators.
  • Clean and sanitize residents' bathrooms and all washrooms in the residence, including all fixtures, tiles, floors, vanity and mirrors.
  • Clean rooms vacated by residents and prepare rooms for incoming residents.
  • Collect refuse from residents' rooms and other areas of the residence and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.
  • Clean and restock housekeeping cart.
  • Report malfunctions in equipment and repairs needed to Maintenance Department through the Maintenance Book at reception.
  • Notify when housecleaning supplies are low.
  • Notify of any resident issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including fire and safety programs.
  • Perform laundry duties.
  • Restock paper supplies and soap in washrooms.
  • Change residents’ beds weekly.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a retirement home.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling and moving of light objects.
  • Must be willing to work as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Must provide a police check.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: $15.50-$20.34 per hour
