Groundwater Environmental Management Services Inc. (GEMS) is a boutique-sized firm established in 2005 to serve a growing need for environmental professionals to effectively address increasingly complex regulatory compliance requirements faced by the construction and land development industries. GEMS has grown over the years, providing a wide range of multi-disciplinary environmental services and has achieved its success by effectively bridging the gap between regulatory agencies and its clients.

GEMS is looking for a Instrument & Equipment Operations Manager with experience in the equipment rental and sales industry developing and overseeing inventory and product sales systems for both internal and external rental and sales.

The applicant should also have experience estimating and quoting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and profit & Loss accountability for GEMS Instrument & Equipment business including: instrument & equipment rental and sales; DataLINKS by GEMS subscriptions and quality control; and field service and installation.
  • Accountable for establishing and managing a rental asset inventory management and control system for both internal and external rentals.
  • Accountable for coordinating supplier quotes, purchasing and receiving product purchases.
  • Responsible for developing and supporting Instrument & Equipment sales: External Rental, Product Purchase for Resale, Installation & Field Services.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing a consumables inventory management, control, tracking and billing system supporting all of GEMS lines of business (Monitoring, Ecology and Hydrogeology).
  • Responsible for all instrument & equipment quoting and sales.
  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing outsourced product manufacturing and service providers.
  • Accountable for the overall management of GEMS warehouse and workshop.
  • Accountable for GEMS Instrument & Equipment customer service representing GEMS brand and 4-hour commitment.
  • Any other reasonable activity required by management/leadership.

Hiring Requirements

  • University or accredited college degree.
  • Experience in the environmental industry would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of equipment rental and sales business is an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for regular travel to job sites.
