Loader, Forklift Operator Job at Country Lumber

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Loader/Forklift Operator. If you believe that your skills and experiences align with who we are looking for, we encourage you to apply today!

This position will work at the Engineered Wood Division located at 25284 Fraser Hwy, Aldergrove, BC.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Operating a forklift in a safe manner.
  • Assemble various lifts of lumber including beams, joists, lumber, etc. from the staging area and load onto the decks of trucks.
  • Communicate clearly to drivers the activities being performed, ensuring their safety while loading.
  • Listen to any instructions given by drivers for sequence of loading multiple orders.
  • Be able to adapt to last minute changes on quantity, order sequence, or priority.
  • When not loading trucks, help with unloading in-bound product, assisting customers with order pick ups, as well as load checking order building, and processing returns as required.
  • Manage an ongoing record of inventory entering the yard.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience operating a forklift in the lumber industry or similar.
  • Principles, theories, and practices of forklift operation.
  • Current forklift certification for the worksite – an asset.
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with strong spatial awareness.
  • Run, maneuver, navigate, and operate forklift within confines of worksite.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Must have a positive attitude and able to handle difficult situations professionally.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions outside (dusty, hot, cold, wet, etc.).
  • Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm and Saturdays as required.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required by management.
